Business cases for digital technology
This challenge of understanding the future costs, impact and benefits of digital investments gets to the heart of developing successful business cases that help organisations and systems on their digital transformation journeys.
Description
As NHS professionals we are all aware of the vital importance of business cases in helping our organisations and systems make good decisions, but have you ever considered the challenges of producing business cases that can fully embrace the possibilities of the future digital age? Indeed, I sometimes wonder what the Apple Computing finance team were expecting when Steve Jobs unveiled the first iPhone in 2007?
This day on Business Cases for Digital transformation, organised by the HFMA on behalf of the South West Staff Development Network (SDN) is split into two half day on-line workshops, which can be taken on their own or together.
Workshop 2 (Afternoon)
The second workshop will build on this understanding of developing effective business cases and apply this knowledge to the world of digital transformation. Perhaps in doing so we will better understand the challenges faced by Steve Jobs’ finance team, when they attempted to identifying the costs, impacts and benefits of the iPhone way back in 2007. This will also prepare us for the challenges faced by NHS finance professionals when we consider the potential costs and benefits of Digital Technology and Artificial Intelligence (AI).
This afternoon workshop will be aimed at finance technical competency level 4 and maybe particularly useful for bands 8a to 8d, but everybody is free to attend both.
